Tips for Getting Your Users Signed Up

There are two ways to get users connected to your school, depending on whether or not they have a paid eChalk account. You can use either method or both to get people connected during the contest time period.

  • If you have not purchased accounts for teachers or students, your community will be using join codes exclusively. Anyone in your community can sign up for emergency alerts and school or district notifications for free using your join code.
  • Teachers, students and parents with paid eChalk accounts can simply sign in with their login credentials to get emergency alerts PLUS personalized notifications from all of their classes, teams, clubs and groups. (Parent accounts are free with paid student accounts.)

For people with eChalk accounts:

  1. Have your users download eChalk Notify from the iTunes App Store or Google Play Store.

  2. Have them log in with their eChalk username and password. It’s that simple.

  3. Monitor how many devices have connected to your school.

For people without eChalk accounts:

  1. Have your users download eChalk Notify from the iTunes App Store or Google Play Store.

  2. Instruct them to connect via your unique school eChalk Notify join code.

  3. Monitor how many devices have connected to your school.

How do I inform my community about Notify?

There are lots of ways to get the word out and let your community know that you are using Notify. We recommend adding a section to your homepage with information about how to download the Notify app and sign up for notifications, but there are other great ways to get the word out as well. Adding Notify to your Twitter and Facebook feeds is a great idea, and you can even put a link to your Notify signup information in your Twitter handle. Where is my eChalk Notify unique join code?

Site Managers can find your Notify code on the School or District Settings tab inside eChalk. Log into the system, click on the School or District Tile, and then click on Settings. You should see a eChalk Notify join code that is unique for your school or district.

How do I know how many devices are connected?

You can tell how many devices have connected by logging into eChalk and visiting the Settings tab for your school or district. Here you’ll see the Notify Join Code and how many devices have currently connected. Device statistics are updated every 24 hours.
