Focus on Student Safety
Our dedication to student safety enables your district to ensure safe interaction and educationally appropriate content at all times.
Keeping Kids Safe Online
Educators and parents know that the Internet is a powerful learning tool for students—but making sure that kids are safe remains the most important concern. When implementing an online environment, it’s essential that your district have a way to ensure that:
- Only members of your school community—registered administrators, teachers, other students, and parents—can interact with students via email, online discussions, and other online tools
- Students interact with each other appropriately
- All of the content posted on your site is inoffensive and educationally appropriate
We Give You the Control You Need
With eChalk, your district has complete control over who has access to your online environment, including email, online discussions, and all communication and Web publishing tools. This control allows students to communicate and access powerful learning tools safely and securely, while teachers and administrators can post information about class and school events without worrying that outsiders might gain access to that information.
eChalk’s Online Learning Environment includes:
- A secure intranet
Only logged-in users with appropriate privileges can access private information, preventing those on the public Internet from viewing content that might put students at risk. Teachers can feel safe posting field trip location information and student photos in the online classroom, knowing only faculty and staff, students, and their parents can view them. - Email with appropriate controls
eChalk provides a full array of methods to control use of email, including domain blocking and SPAM protection, giving you control over who can send and receive email and what the content of the email is. What's more, the controls are flexible enough to allow you to strictly limit younger users' account but expand the privileges of older users (such as 12th-graders who may need to correspond with college admissions offices), while still enabling account monitoring and easy reporting of misuse.
- Student privilege suspension
Site Administrators can easily restrict individual privileges if students violate the district’s acceptable use policy. - Data protection
eChalk uses state-of the-art hardware, software, and physical security protections to ensure that all student-related data is safe from inappropriate access. - Account monitoring
Teachers and parents have the ability to monitor students’ accounts and view students’ email and files. - Monitored discussions
All posts in class and group blogs/discussions are monitored by teachers and group leaders to ensure comments are appropriate. - Draft mode
Administrators can require teachers to create draft versions of classroom activities or other materials for department heads or supervisors to review before publication, ensuring that all postings by teachers are correct and appropriate. - Archiving of content
eChalk keeps digital records of all system usage and can help to revive content in case you need to investigate any allegations of misuse.
