Title I Programs

Today’s Title I students need the same opportunities for success as other students, and succeeding in the 21st century means knowing how to use technology to solve problems, communicate, and become self-directed learners. At eChalk, we understand the specific requirements you must meet with your Title I programs. We know that your Title 1 programs are focused on developing systemic change in your schools through efforts that can include:

  • Extending the Learning Window
  • Improved parental involvement
  • Effective technology integration
  • Customized professional development
  • Curriculum alignment tools

Each of these efforts can be accomplished via eChalk and can be a critical component of any school improvement effort.

Title II: Part A: Teacher and Principal Training and Recruiting

eChalk understands the importance of developing, recruiting, and retaining highly qualified principals and teaching staff. The Title II grant provides funds to do just that. Funds can be used for professional development, recruitment and hiring, and to increase leadership skills of principals and administrators. eChalk’s communication and collaboration tools can be used to recruit, retain, and develop highly qualified teachers and principals.

Title IID: Enhancing Education Through Technology

The three major federal goals of Title IID (Enhancing Education Through Technology) are to:

  • Increase student achievement through technology use
  • Close the digital divide by ensuring that all students are technology-literate by the end of the 8th grade
  • Encourage effective integration of technology through teacher training and curriculum development to establish successful research-based instructional methods

eChalk is committed to ensuring that your students get the greatest possible value from your Title IID programs. We know that educators are under pressure to ensure they maximize their technology investments. Utilizing eChalk’s technology tools allows your schools to leverage these investments and can help your schools reach the three major goals of this program.

Title III: English Language Learners (ELL)

For today’s ELL students, succeeding in the 21st century means more than learning to communicate and build knowledge in English, but also knowing how to use technology to solve problems, communicate and become self-directed learners. eChalk’s tools targets these skills, positioning your ELL students for success in school and beyond.

Title IV Part B: 21st Century Community Learning Centers

After-school programs find it increasingly important to establish or expand activities with opportunities for academic enrichment and to offer a broad array of additional services, programs and activities that promote positive youth development. This is the primary purpose of the 21st CCLC grant program. An effective implementation will tie students’ after-school activities to the regular school day, evaluate those activities’ impact on student achievement, and encourage family and community involvement in learning. eChalk is committed to supporting the mission of the 21st CCLC grant program, and to ensuring that your program provides students and families with the greatest impact.

GEAR UP (Gearing Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs)

It has become increasingly more important to ensure that economically disadvantaged students are given equal opportunities for success in high school and in college. Even with wider access to technology, low-income middle school students still may not be developing the skills they will need to succeed in the 21st century. The GEAR UP program was designed to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education and the 21st century workplace.

eChalk is committed to helping you ensure your GEAR UP program is successful. Using eChalk helps your students develop necessary technology skills to access, organize and communicate information electronically. Technology usage through eChalk and its integration into curriculum activities enhances postsecondary preparedness.

Smaller Learning Communities (SLC)

Grants through the SLC program are used to restructure large high schools with more than 1000 students and to create small schools within the existing structure. These “schools within a school” often have a special focus, such as career academies or magnet schools. eChalk’s Online Learning Environment can serve as a cornerstone for these new smaller learning communities by providing the ability for this group of students and staff to communicate effectively and privately, share information, hold online discussions, create meaningful parental involvement, and still be connected to the larger district.

IDEA: Special Education

Educators working with special needs children are charged with integrating them into regular classrooms, but it is a challenge to provide these students with the individualized instruction they need and to provide accurate assessment and reporting. Creating, reviewing, and updating IEPs pose challenges for special education programs because of the need for collaboration amongst many different people. eChalk is committed to supporting the mission of special education and ensuring that your students receive all of the possible benefits from your program. For example, the eChalk system can facilitate the creation, editing, reviews, and approval of the IEP. In addition, collaboration between regular and special education is required and can happen through eChalk.
