Your K-12 district and school community is made up of many smaller groups—academic departments, sports teams, clubs, committees—and each group needs effective communication among its members in order to thrive. eChalk’s Groups feature is an integral part of our Online Learning Environment, allowing specified groups of administrators, teachers, students, and parents to keep informed and collaborate with each other—inside and outside the classroom and school.
- Departments or teaching teams share meeting information, announcements, key documents, online discussions, and other resources—in a password-protected, private area.
- Curriculum leaders share standards and best practices and securely discuss issues across districts.
- Athletic teams post schedules, rosters, scores, and photos to keep members informed and build team spirit.
- Clubs promote community involvement by sharing goals, member bios, meeting information, and upcoming activities.
- PTA and school board members have a secure place to access newsletters, meeting minutes, and schedules and discuss new initiatives.
All of these groups can also easily create group email distribution lists, allowing them to contact and share important information with all group members (or a selected sub-group) with one click. Plus, distribution lists are automatically updated to reflect changes in membership, providing maximum convenience. Administrators can define group membership by a rule (for example “All 8th grade math teachers across the district”) so that any new teacher in that subject and grade will be added to the list automatically. What’s more, administrative privileges can easily be granted to any member of a group depending on his or her role or position.
