eChalk Announces Version 3.0 at NECC

Leading Provider of Online Communications Platform Enhances System for K-12 Schools

San Antonio, TX (June 17, 2002) - eChalk, the leading Web-based communication provider for K-12 public, private, and parochial schools and school districts, announced today at the National Educational Computing Conference(NECC) that it will be launching Version 3.0 of the eChalk system this July. The latest version will include numerous new tools and a streamlined user interface making the system the most comprehensive and easiest to use on the market.

Some of the more noticeable changes include a redesigned homepage, enhancing the ability for a district to share resources to its schools and for the school to share resources with parents and the community; an even more powerful Online Classroom, offering threaded discussions and expanded archive tools; and an overhauled calendar tool, with a new look and new features.

"The new look and feel to the system was a tremendous undertaking and one that we are confident will be an incredible benefit for our customers," said Charlene Noll, Head of Product Development at eChalk.

eChalk utilizes an in-depth research process usually reserved for high-end corporate software companies. By taking this process to K-12 schools, eChalk has been able to deliver a service that meets the many unique needs of K-12 schools and districts. "I was amazed how many schools were being sold corporate solutions that do not fit their needs and then struggled with training, tremendous ongoing costs and a system that did not integrate with other initiatives. eChalk's solution changes all of that," said Noll.

Version 3.0 also comes with enhanced integration tools allowing schools to maximize their current investment in technology. The system can be integrated seamlessly into a school's current Web-site and can communicate with a school or district's Student Information System(SIS) or other databases. It can also help deliver other online third party content which allows a school or district to more easily manage these resources. As an Application Service Provider (ASP), eChalk works on any computer that has a connection to the Internet and a browser of 4.0 or higher.
