eChalk Announces Enhancements to its Online Learning Environment

Improvements include new capability for sharing best-practice lesson plans

ATLANTA, GA JUNE 22, 2007 - eChalk, Inc., today announced the newest version of its Online Learning Environment, Version 8.0.

eChalk's Online Learning Environment enables district leaders, principals, teachers, students and parents to communicate more effectively and positively impact leadership, teaching, and learning. The latest improvements to the Online Learning Environment include new Lesson Planner capabilities that allow curriculum leaders, principals, department heads, and teachers to collaboratively develop and share exemplary lesson plans.

The Lesson Planner module, which automates lesson plan creation, standards alignment, and plan submission and review, now allows teachers, within a department or throughout a district, to work together to create best-practice lesson plans and share them with each other. One of the many unique attributes of Lesson Planner is the ability for this system to be customized in order to mirror the natural work flow of a district.

"Because South Carolina has very strict standards, we decided to implement lesson planning software so that we are consistent across the district and our students learn the same curriculum no matter what school they attend," said Linda Shaylor, Director of Instructional Technology for Kershaw County School District. "After a very thorough evaluation process, we selected eChalk's Lesson Planner because it's so comprehensive and so easy to customize to our lesson planning process. Teachers can access standards, post lesson plans, homework assignments, and resources, all within one easy-to-use system."

Other enhancements featured in Version 8.0 include new integration options with a district's student information system (SIS) that allow for the system to be automatically updated, powerful new email archiving capabilities that provide district leaders maximum flexibility to comply with state and federal email retention laws, and updated calendaring tools and user interfaces.
