After years in the classroom as a teacher, I finally found a tool that helped bring my students, their parents and me together. That tool was eChalk. The possibilities afforded me as a teacher, the ability to quickly and easily share all classroom information and materials and the students’ and parents’ ability to succeed by using those materials at their own pace made me a believer in technology in the classroom and in eChalk.
Describe the eChalk culture.
Since I was a teacher who used eChalk, I first got a chance to see the eChalk culture from the outside. I loved meeting and working with all the eChalk trainers, support personnel and salespeople prior to joining the company. I found them uniformly excited and interested in helping me use technology to enhance the lives and learning of my students and parents. Now that I’ve joined the team, I can say that I didn’t just get lucky by seeing them on their “good days.” Everyone in the company shares a driving passion to provide tools and solutions that directly impact the lives of students, parents and teachers across the country.
What do you like best about working at eChalk?
I really enjoy the opportunity to work with a wide variety of teachers in a wide variety of communities and to help them understand the possibilities that eChalk and technology in general offers them. When I’m working with school personnel and that light goes off in their eyes when they make a connection between their needs, the needs of their community, and the tools that eChalk offers, I just want to get up and celebrate with them. When that light becomes a bright beacon and they start to imagine all the ways that eChalk could be used to meet needs that they had never even considered before, I’m floating on air.
Describe your fellow eChalkers.
“Inspired” and “passionate” are the words that I apply uniformly to my fellow eChalkers. All the people in the company are happy to support each other. I’ve seen my fellow eChalkers gladly put aside their own work in order to help support a new customer. Job titles don’t really seem to describe what it is people who work for eChalk do. From Vice Presidents who will jump on a plane to provide training to a customer, to technology directors who will meet with customers to discuss the finer details of technology infrastructure within a district, the passion for the job is boundless and driven by a committed belief in the solution that eChalk offers.
What excites you about the future of eChalk?
I love the tools that eChalk has built into our system. I love seeing the new ideas and new possibilities that our product development team comes up with. I love knowing that our product development team develops new tools based on what our customers are asking for. I love going into schools that challenge me and give me a need or a “problem” that is unique to their community and matching their need with an eChalk solution. I love knowing that the eChalk platform is versatile enough that no matter what the need, no matter what the goal is, eChalk will be able to provide a solution. And, I love knowing that eChalk provides the ability for every user to come up with their own solution and incorporating that within the system.
The fact that virtually anything can be put within our system and used by parents and students on their own time means that the possibilities and solutions are endless. And as our world develops and evolves new technologies, having a platform that accommodates these new technologies means a world of endless possibilities for teachers, students and parents.
