Why did you choose to work in education? What drew you to eChalk?

Education and technology have always been passions of mine. I love doing things that make learning more engaging for students and teaching more exciting for teachers. I was drawn to eChalk because we provide students and teachers with a spectacular set of easy-to-use tools for improving the instructional experience.

Describe the eChalk culture. 

The best way to describe eChalk’s culture is "high performing." eChalkers are driven and collaborative. We have an enormously talented group of people who are passionate about education and who care deeply about providing our customers with the very best. The commitment of our team to helping schools be successful is like no other place I’ve worked. 

What do you like best about working at eChalk?

The best parts of working at eChalk are the people, both my colleagues and our customers. Knowing that I come to work every day and share the same values and goals as my co-workers and our clients is incredibly rewarding. 

How would you describe eChalk customers?

eChalk customers have high expectations and insist on providing students, teachers and parents with the very best tools for learning.  

Is there one event that stands out during the time you’ve worked at eChalk?

Recently, I was working with a customer in California to set up some students to use eChalk who were in one of the district’s alternative programs. After her first day working with the students, this customer sent me a message about the experience, “Thanks so much, Kent! I worked with the teacher and her classes today – they are so thrilled! These kids who often feel misunderstood and undervalued were very appreciative that they had been granted use of a sophisticated, personalized system like eChalk. You don’t often hear words of appreciation from these students – today we did!” 

What excites you about the future of eChalk?

I’m most excited at the prospect of the many more schools and districts I’ll get to work with and all of the great new things about our products coming down the pipeline. Our software innovation and the company’s genuine interest in the success of schools is going to take us far in the coming months and years.
