Why did you choose to work in education?
Both my parents and my grandfather were deeply involved in education as teachers, as well as leaders that worked to improve the learning experience. This deeply rooted tradition remained in me as I completed my graduate studies in Computer Science. I had worked in the financial and insurance industries for many years, before eChalk presented an opportunity to utilize my skills as a computer systems architect while fulfilling my passion to improve learning in K-12.
How is eChalk different from other places you’ve worked?
The people that work at eChalk have a tight bond revolving around teaching and learning. When I worked in larger companies, many people specialized in their job functions, but rarely shared a passion for the business. eChalk brings together highly qualified people working towards a common goal that we believe—to help teachers work more effectively and give them tools to make teaching a great experience for students.
What excites you about the future of eChalk?
With less than 10% of the K-12 market using a complete learning environment, like eChalk, I see an immense opportunity for U.S. education to advance and once again play a leadership role. Our children will greatly benefit from improved and safe learning environments, enjoy lifelong learning experiences and become empowered to succeed.
